Course Name: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery

Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who have a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.

Qualifications

Students successfully completing the course will receive the SIT40516 Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery Certificate.

Entry Requirement

Applicants must be aged 18 years or above

Achieve a minimum of 60% in Della’s LLN assessment

Additional course requirements: Applicants must be an existing worker in the Tourism and Hospitality industry in order to enrol under the Higher-Level Skills Program, AND

Already hold entry-level qualifications (certificate III level) in the industry and who require further training for career progression

Eligibility

To be eligible for the HigherLevel Skills program ‘funded by the Queensland Government’, individuals must:

  • be aged 15 years or over and no longer at school
  • permanently reside in Queensland
  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
  • not hold, and not be enrolled in, a certificate IV or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training

Job Prospects

This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops, or to run a small business in these sectors.Possible job titles include:

  • Chef
  • Chef de partie

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Student Co-Contribution Fee

The Queensland Government subsidises the cost of undertaking an approved Qualification however all participants will be required to contribute a co-contribution fee. The co-contribution fee must be paid directly to DELLA International College head office during the application process.

  • $99 may be paid by the student, their employer or another third party
  • $79 Concessional student status applies when:

(a) the student holds a health care concession card or pensioner concession card issued under Commonwealth law, or is the partner or a dependant of a person who holds a health care concession card or pensioner concession card, and is named on the card

(b) the student provides an official form under Commonwealth law confirming that the student, his or her partner or the person of whom the student is a dependant, is entitled to concessions under a health care or pensioner concession card

(c) the student is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

(d) the student is an adult prisoner.
